The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today announced a final rule adjusting membership on the United Soybean Board to reflect shifts in soybean production levels that have occurred since 2022.<_o3a_p>
Membership on the board is reviewed every three years and adjusted, if necessary, as required by the Soybean Promotion, Research and Consumer Information Act and the Soybean Promotion, Research, and Consumer Information Order. As a result of this review, the rule decreases membership for North Dakota from four members to three members and increases membership for New York from one member to two members. Total membership of the board will remain at 77 members.<_o3a_p>
The changes will be included in the Soybean Promotion and Research Order and will be effective for the 2025 board appointment process.<_o3a_p>
The final rule is available for public inspection. It will be published in the Federal Register Nov. 18, 2024, and will go into effect Dec. 18, 2024. For more information, contact Agricultural Marketing Specialist Jason Julian at (202) 731-2149 or [email protected].<_o3a_p>

Since 1966, Congress has authorized the establishment of 22 industry-funded research and promotion boards. They empower farmers and ranchers to leverage their own resources to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets, and conduct important research and promotion activities. USDA's AMS provides oversight, paid for by industry assessments, which ensures fiscal accountability ad program integrity for participating stakeholders.<_o3a_p>
