Mark Robinson's Week of Trying to Rewrite His Record on Banning Abortion and Calls for Violence

From scrubbing his website to lying about his calls for violence, Mark Robinson spent this week trying to hide his extreme record and plans for North Carolinians.

First, after Robinson spent weeks hiding and dodging questions, he is now claiming his "some folks need killing" rant was taken out of context. This couldn't be further from the truth, as numerous outlets have pointed out that in the same rant Robinson said "We now find ourselves struggling with people who have evil intent" and has "frequently denounced his opponents as 'evil' and 'wicked.'"

Second, NBC reported that Robinson was caught trying to once again deceive the people of North Carolina by appearing to "have removed references to abortion from his campaign website." This comes after Robinson made comments earlier this year saying, "They think that I've changed my position. I have not changed my position. I've just changed…what I'm saying."

Additionally, Robinson tried to downplay and falsely claim his comments saying women who have abortions aren't "responsible enough to keep your skirt down" were taken out of context. Which begs the question: in what context does Mark Robinson think blaming women for not being "responsible enough to keep their skirt down" is okay?

"Mark Robinson has a troubling pattern of calling for violence and wants to completely ban abortion with no exceptions. Facing more scrutiny, he spent this entire week pulling out all the stops to try and hide his extreme record and plans." said DGA Communications Director Sam Newton. "He can hide all he wants, but the bottom line is: North Carolinians won't buy Robinson's attempts to deceive them and the more he tries to run from his own record, it just becomes more clear he's far too extreme to ever be governor."
