Santa Clara County Reps Announce an Additional $20M+ in Federal Funding for COVID 19 Related Expenditures

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Representatives Zoe Lofgren (CA-18), Anna Eshoo (CA-16), Ro Khanna (CA-17), and Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is reimbursing Santa Clara County for an additional $20,215,809.46 for emergency health and safety expenditures incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Even though the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic is behind us, there are still lingering issues, such as federal reimbursements. During the health emergency, Santa Clara County officials made sure community members were well-protected and had access to testing and vaccinations. Now, we will continue working together to ensure that the County receives the funding it is owed and is prepared for future challenges," said Reps. Lofgren, Eshoo, Khanna, and Panetta.

This funding was provided by the Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, which authorizes FEMA's disaster response activities and programming.

This announcement follows recent, similar reimbursement news. Reps. Lofgren, Eshoo, Khanna, and Panetta announced $65,142,877.75 in May 2024, $27,243,534.79 in June 2024, and $45,185,047.39 in July 2024 for COVID-19-related expenditures for Santa Clara County.
