Orkney Islands Council has made the above-named Order under Section 62 of the Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 to ensure the safety of the public and road users in respect of Christmas tree lighting events in Kirkwall, Stromness, Dounby and St Margaret's Hope.
The Order will be in operation on Wednesday, 27 November 2024, between the hours of 17:00 and 20.00 in respect of Stromness and its effect will be to close: (1) Ferry Road, from Stromness Ferry Terminal car park to Victoria Street; (2) John Street, from No 27 John Street to Victoria Street; (3) Victoria Street, from John Street to Church Road; and (4) Church Road, one way only to enable traffic to travel from Victoria Street to Franklin Road, all being roads in Stromness, when required.
The Order will be in operation on Friday, 29 November 2024, between the hours of 18:00 and 20:00 in respect of St Margaret's Hope and its effect will be to close Cromarty Square, St Margaret's Hope, when required.
The Order will be in operation on Saturday, 30 November 2024, between the hours of 16:00 to 18:45 in respect of Kirkwall and its effect will be to close: (1) Albert Street, from Laing Street to Broad Street; (2) Broad Street; (3) Castle Street; (4) Palace Road, from Watergate to Broad Street; (5) Victoria Street, from Broad Street to Watergate; and (6) Tankerness Lane, one way section only, all being roads in Kirkwall, when required.
The Order will be in operation on Friday, 6 December 2024, between the hours of 18:00 and 20:00 in respect of Dounby, and its effect will be to close the B9057 from A986 to Market Green, when required.
Traffic signs will be erected to indicate when a road is closed.
