As the primary line of defense against illicit trafficking and various criminal threats, Libya's border agencies engaged in a comprehensive training programme aimed at enhancing their operational capabilities. The European Union Border Assistance Mission to Libya (EUBAM Libya) facilitated a five-day training from 4 August to 8 August at the Specialized Training Institute of the General Administration for Security Operations (GASO). This programme was specifically designed to equip border officers with advanced competencies in risk management, information analysis, document verification, anti-corruption strategies, and counterterrorism efforts.

According to the Head of EUBAM Libya Operations, Mr. Alessio Zuccarini, "This intensive training brought together officers from across the Ministry of Interior (MoI) to enhance their ability to identify, assess, and neutralize threats. By empowering MoI personnel, we're strengthening Libya's resilience against illicit activities. We are incredibly proud of the partnership between our Mission and MOI-relevant Institutions with their border guard officers.Their commitment to excellence is inspiring. Together, we're building a stronger, safer Libya."

.

The training notably underscored the critical balance between rigorous border control and the facilitation of legitimate cross-border movements. In an increasingly interconnected global landscape, effective border management is vital for fostering economic growth and promoting interpersonal exchanges. Libya's dedication to these principles is clearly also reflected in the training curriculum.
