Pavement repairs to be followed by resurfacing

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - In preparation for resurfacing, construction crews will begin pavement repairs on U.S. Route 54 in Callaway County. This work will require nightly lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting tonight. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.

Construction crews plan to begin on eastbound U.S. Route 54 just north of the Missouri River progressing east toward the Holts Summit area, then will make repairs on the same portion of westbound U.S. Route 54. Resurfacing is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-August.

The pavement repair and resurfacing will improve both east and westbound U.S. Route 54 from the Missouri River Bridges to just north of Kingdom City. The resurfacing for the full stretch of road will be completed in 2025.

Part of these nightly lane closures will be in close proximity to two other work zones: head-to-head traffic configuration south of the Missouri River and ramp restrictions north of the Missouri River at the U.S. Route 54/U.S. Route 63/Missouri Route 94 interchange.
