August 6, 2024: DA Gascón Announces Charges Against Man in Sexual Assault of Two Boys in Los Angeles County, Seeks Additional Victims

Andrew Sandoval is charged with allegedly sexually assaulting two boys on various occasions between November 2015 and this year in LA County

SOUTH GATE, CA - Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Andrew Sandoval of the city of South Gate is charged with allegedly sexually abusing two boys between November 2015 and this year within Los Angeles County.

Sandoval is currently in custody and investigators are seeking additional victims because his work history includes employment by dozens of schools and child care settings in Los Angeles County.

"The abhorrent nature of these crimes against children and the defendant's employment in schools and childcare settings is of tremendous concern, and we are asking for anyone who may have additional information to come forward," District Attorney Gascón said. "We're committed to seeking justice, and the courage to come forward can ensure justice for those who have been harmed."

The case is being investigated by South Gate Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department. Further investigation has revealed there may be additional victims.

"The South Gate Police Department will always work diligently with our local, county, and federal partners to investigate any crime against children," South Gate Police Chief Darren Arakawa said. "The seriousness of this case underscores the need to invest in the necessary resources to investigate, pursue and prosecute suspects involved in acts of child exploitation and abuse of any kind. This case, in particular, is shocking to its core and we will continue to unearth the leads that detectives have unveiled during the course of this investigation. We will not rest until all leads have been exhausted."

As part of its ongoing investigation, law enforcement is conducting outreach to dozens of schools and child care centers where Sandoval worked to verify the scope and duration of his duties at those facilities. Once that list of schools and childcare facilities has been verified, it will be shared with the public.

Andrew Louie Sandoval (dob 09/24/96) is charged in case 24DWCF00722 with seven counts of lewd act upon a child under age 14; one count of sodomy with a child 10 years old or younger; two counts of oral copulation with a child 10 years or younger; and one count of possession of over 600 images of child or youth porn.

Sandoval is scheduled to be arraigned August 13 in Dept. J of the Norwalk Courthouse.

From November 2015 through this year, Sandoval allegedly sexually assaulted the minors, between the ages of four and nine years old, on different occasions within Los Angeles County.

Electronic evidence was recovered by South Gate police, along with hundreds of child pornography images allegedly on Sandoval's electronic device.

Sandoval was arrested on July 24.

Sandoval is being held on $7,050,000 bail. If convicted as charged, he faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

This case is being investigated by the South Gate Police Department. The Los Angeles Police Department is assisting in the investigation.
