'Office hours' session will feature Q&A with a U.S. Department of Labor representative

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. - Organizations offering training in information technology (IT) skills can learn how to optimize opportunities to secure federal funding for their programs at a webinar presented by CompTIA, the nonprofit association for the IT industry and workforce.

"Maximizing Grant Success: Office Hours with the U.S. Department of Labor Representative" is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Speakers include Nick Beadle, policy counselor, Good Jobs Initiative Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy, U.S. Department of Labor (DOL); Seth Robinson, vice president, industry research, CompTIA; and Robert Owens, director, funding, research and analysis, CompTIA.

Beadle leads work shaping the DOL's full portfolio of grants to better connect workers to good jobs. Webinar attendees will have a direct line to ask specific questions and receive advice on navigating the grant application process, ensuring compliance and aligning proposals with the department's priorities. Discussion topics will include:

The types of projects or initiatives that have historically been the most successful in receiving grant funding from the DOL.

Tips for strengthening a grant proposal's alignment with the DOL's strategic priorities, especially related to IT and workforce development.

The importance of public-private partnerships and recommendations for building strong collaboration with industry and community organizations.

DOL support and resources to help organizations ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting guidelines.

Insight into how the DOL evaluates the sustainability of grant-funded programs beyond the initial funding period.

Robinson will share insights on current and future trends for tech occupations.

"As worries about the economy have eased, employers are gradually ramping up their search for tech talent," Robinson said. "Opportunities to work in tech are present in almost every location around the country; in virtually every industry; and at all experience levels, from entry-level to mid-career to advanced professional."

"This collaboration with the U.S. Department of Labor underscores CompTIA's commitment to providing our partners with valuable resources and knowledge," Owens said. "By facilitating this dialogue, we aim to enhance our partners' ability to access federal funding and leverage it for impactful initiatives."
