Fifth annual Legal Advisory Week begins in U.S.
  • Running from August 13-19 at Mexico's 53 consulates in the United States under the slogan "Know and exercise your rights"
  • The aim is to provide the Mexican community with legal guidance and assistance, including legal advice, immigration relief and fraud prevention

The Government of Mexico, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and consular network in the United States, is holding the fifth annual Legal Advisory Week (SALE) from August 13-19.

SALE's mission is to empower the Mexican community by informing them of their rights and how to exercise them. The program provides information on immigration relief, resources for fraud prevention and support for scam victims, with a focus on immigration-related issues. Additionally, it promotes legal services available through the Legal Assistance Program for Mexicans via External Legal Advisors in the United States (PALE).

Mexican consulates, in collaboration with strategic partners and through the Information and Assistance Center for Mexicans (CIAM), will offer the Mexican community guidance on reliable immigration legal service providers. They will also help identify potential protection cases and refer Mexicans to PALE for legal assistance, regardless of their immigration status.

The week's activities include:

  • In-person and virtual workshops
  • Immigration status assessment sessions
  • Information fairs
  • Media call banks (radio, television, and social media) to bring consular services closer to the Mexican community
  • Referrals to local resources
  • Promotion of legal advisory services offered by PALE-affiliated attorneys
  • Identification of cases requiring consular protection to connect individuals with PALE services
