Special school holiday Community Bake Day at Legacy Park

Published on 16 July 2024

The City of Hobart invites you to a special school holidays community bake day at Legacy Park at the Queens Domain on Wednesday, 17 July, from 12pm to 3pm.

The night before, our dedicated oven coordinators will be firing up the two big wood-fired ovens at Legacy Park.

These ovens will be ready to cook as soon as the first families arrive.

What to Bring:

  • Your own pizza dough and toppings for our oven coordinators to cook in the wood-fired ovens.

Event Highlights:

  • Face painting for the kids.
  • A coffee van for the adults.
  • A small range of pizzas available for tasting.

Cooking Details:

  • One oven is perfect for roast meats, vegetables, oven-baked bread, and desserts.
  • The second oven, reaching nearly 500 degrees Celsius, is ideal for pizzas, which cook in under a minute.

Oven Coordinators:

  • City of Hobart staff will be on hand to assist with cooking your culinary masterpieces.

Additional Activities:

  • Let the kids explore the Legacy Park play area while you prepare the pizzas or carve up a roasted chicken.
  • Drop off dishes needing slow cooking at 11am and pick them up later when ready.

Event Extras:

  • This is the first mid-week community bake day, complementing our regular weekend sessions, which are held every second Sunday throughout the year.
  • Bring your pizza bases, sauce, toppings, pizza trays, rolling pin, pizza cutter, and cornmeal to ensure the best results.
  • If you have dietary requirements, speak to the coordinators for safely cooked food.

The wood-fired pizza ovens are in a beautifully designed, sheltered space with communal tables and next to a fabulous nature play area.

There is ample seating and plenty of grassy picnic spots. Join us for a fun-filled community day.

Add this event to your calendar and come enjoy a day of baking, fun and family activities.
