City expands support for cannabis equity program participants with new partnership

The Sacramento City Council this week approved $750,000 to further support participants in the City's Cannabis Opportunity Reinvestment and Equity (CORE) program.

Through a partnership with Launch Industries, the City's Office of Cannabis Management will expand its educational offerings, providing personalized technical assistance, mentorship, and guidance on regulatory compliance to help CORE cannabis businesses and entrepreneurs succeed.

"This partnership offers CORE businesses and entrepreneurs the tailored support they need to succeed and thrive in Sacramento's cannabis industry," said CORE Liaison and Administrative Analyst Nhan Pham.

The consultant will provide a range of cannabis business support services, including marketing, business planning, financial guidance, legal assistance, real estate advice, and human resources support. These services are designed to meet specific needs of the CORE program, such as developing brand differentiation strategies and other specialized business requirements.

Additionally, Launch Industries will serve as the City's new CORE verification service provider, ensuring the integrity of the CORE criteria and overseeing the induction of new members into the program.

Created in 2018, the CORE program is designed to reduce the barriers of entry into the local cannabis industry through training, mentoring, financial and technical support and other assistance for individuals affected by the disproportionate enforcement of cannabis-related crimes.
