Sacramento Police Makes First Homicide Arrest in Fentanyl Overdose Case

The Sacramento Police Department has made a significant arrest in a homicide case involving a fentanyl overdose. On October 9, 2024, 27-year-old Kyle Firebaugh was taken into custody and later booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of homicide and felony narcotics sales. The victim, 32-year-old Bianca Bewley, died from a fentanyl overdose in December 2023.

Bianca was discovered deceased in her home in the 5900 block of 34th Ave on December 10, 2023. Firebaugh, who had been in communication with the victim about fentanyl in the days leading up to her death, admitted to supplying narcotics and was found to have purchased a substantial amount of fentanyl just hours before Bianca's passing.

This arrest highlights the ongoing and exceptional work of Sacramento Police Department Detectives in tackling narcotics-related crimes and the growing danger of fentanyl in our community. Detectives worked diligently in partnership with the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office and SAC-FORCE (Fentanyl Overdose Response Criminal Investigation Enforcement) response team to bring this case to justice.

"This case underscores the deadly threat fentanyl poses in our community. Our detectives, alongside the Sacramento County DA's Office, have worked tirelessly to hold those responsible accountable," said Sacramento Police Chief Kathy Lester. "Fentanyl is not just a drug-it's a dangerous and lethal substance, and this arrest reflects our continued commitment to fighting its presence on our streets."
