MALAYSIA CONTINUES MEMBERSHIP OF COMMONWEALTH MINISTERIAL ACTION GROUP

MALAYSIA CONTINUES MEMBERSHIP OF

COMMONWEALTH MINISTERIAL ACTION GROUP

Malaysia was elected to continue its membership of Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) for the third consecutive term of 2024-2026. The decision was endorsed by the Commonwealth Heads of State and Government (CHOGM) during the CHOGM 2024 on 26 October, in Apia, Samoa.

Malaysia will serve the CMAG along with Antigua and Barbuda, Botswana, Canada, Grenada, Malta, Mauritius, Samoa and Zambia.

CMAG was established by the Commonwealth Heads of States and Government in 1995. The CMAG is custodian of the Commonwealth's fundamental political values, addressing country situations where serious or persistent violations have occurred.

Malaysia has a long history of serving in CMAG, having served in 1995-2002, 2005-2009 and 2018-2024. The continuing membership in CMAG reflects the Commonwealth's confidence in Malaysia for championing good governance, rule of law and human rights, in line with CMAG's mandate.
