Use the business performance benchmarker data to find key financial performance and benchmark statistics for business planning, or to compare your business against similar businesses.
We developed the benchmarker data to provide financial statistics for more industries than those covered by the annual enterprise survey (AES).

The financial data contains industry data for the last three years on:
These are available for 483 industries. For definitions, see Definitions and metadata below.
The industry total income, expenditure, profit, and assets are sourced from the AES, and the business count and employee count are sourced from New Zealand business demography statistics. Business and employee counts are annual snapshots as at February 2023.
The benchmark ratios have eight ratios of businesses, based on the distribution of turnover, for the 2023 financial year. These are available for 227 of the 483 industries.

The annual enterprise survey statistics used in the financial data are below the design level and do not go through our usual quality checks. To help you understand the accuracy of these estimates, we've included an accuracy category, based on sample errors for each industry.
For the benchmark ratios, users should be aware that a business can have operations classified into more than one industry, which can affect the industry financial ratios produced. These ratios should be used with caution.
