AMPN/REF A IS U.S. NAVY REGULATIONS.//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. Effective 3 November 2023, and having been confirmed by the United States Senate and sworn in by the Secretary of the Navy, I have assumed all duties as the 37th Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps. As directed by 10 U.S.C. 8044, until General Smith completes his recovery, I am also performing the duties of Commandant. My prayers, and the prayers of our Corps are with General Smith and his family. At every level, let this be a reminder that we must always be prepared to assume the responsibilities of our next senior leader - next Marine up.
2. As we look forward to our Commandant's return, we must continue to relentlessly pursue his warfighting priorities: Balance Crisis Response with Modernization Efforts; Naval Integration and Organic Mobility; Quality of Life; Recruit, Make, and Retain Marines; and Maximize the Potential of our Reserves. It is critical that we maintain the momentum generated through our modernization, to consolidate gains, and accelerate wherever possible. We must continue to innovate and solve complex problems, such as logistics operations in contested environments. Most importantly, our focus must remain fixed on the individual Marine - how they live, how they train, and how they fight. High standards. Readiness always. I am proud to serve alongside you.
3. All orders and directives issued by the Commandant remain in effect.
4. Semper Fidelis, Christopher J. Mahoney, General, U.S. Marine Corps, Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps.//
