The Boston Police Department Remembers the Service and Sacrifice of Officer Thomas A. Davis

BPD Remembers: The men and women of the Boston Police Department remember the service and sacrifice of Officer Thomas A. Davis who was killed in the line of duty 85 years ago today. Officer Davis died as a result of injuries he sustained while making an arrest on Thursday April 13, 1939.

Officer Davis was 49 years of age at the time of his death and had served with the department for 20 years. He was survived by his wife and seven children.

Officer Davis was laid to rest at the New Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial as well as the Boston Police Department Hero Wall at BPD Headquarters and the Law Enforcement Memorial at the State House in Downtown Boston.
