New Circuit Court Judge to be Sworn into Office in Sioux Falls

PIERRE, S.D.-The Second Judicial Circuit will hold a swearing-in of Mandi A. Mowery as its newest circuit court judge.

The investiture ceremony will take place on Friday, Sept. 20, 2024, at 3 p.m. CDT in Courtroom 5B at the Minnehaha County Courthouse located at 425 N. Dakota Ave. in Sioux Falls. The event is open to the public. Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to enjoy refreshments provided by the Second Circuit Bar Association.

Mowery grew up on her family ranch and graduated valedictorian of her class from New Underwood High School. She obtained magna cum laude honors from the University of South Dakota and received her juris doctorate from Baylor Law School.

In 2006, Mowery returned home to South Dakota where she joined the Minnehaha County State's Attorney Office. She began handling misdemeanor cases and eventually joined the felony prosecution division, focusing on narcotics prosecution. Mowery has been a prosecutor in the Minnehaha County State's Attorney Office for 17 years and currently serves as a team lead of one of the felony divisions.

Mowery will serve as a judge for the Second Judicial Circuit, which includes Lincoln and Minnehaha counties.
