City to Host Ribbon Cutting for SW Water Reclamation Facility Operations Building

August 19, 2024

The City of Cape Coral invites the public to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Southwest Water Reclamation Operations Building Friday, September 6, at 9 a.m.

Due to the secure nature of this property, you must RSVP to attend. This event is not open to the public.

The event will include facility tours and food. For GPS purposes, the facility entrance is located at 2086 SW 32nd Street. Attendees should follow the event signs to the Operations Building.

This state-of-the-art facility replaces the previous Operations Building, constructed in the early 1990s, which had significant defects and was deemed uninhabitable. The new Southwest Operations Building and Warehouse is designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane while keeping critical controls, instrumentation, and City staff safe.

The Operations Building includes a training room that enables the Utilities Department to host various technical training courses, saving the City money on offsite travel expenses. The building spans 22,200 square feet and includes the City's first electric vehicle charging station for future city-owned electric vehicles. The warehouse provides 4,300 square feet of space for lift station generators and equipment storage.
