SAMOA & NEW ZEALAND RENEWS PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT, (Apia, Samoa 9th February 2023).

New Zealand's Foreign Minister Rt Hon Winston Peters met with Samoa's Prime Minister Fiamē Naomi Mata'afa this morning to sign a renewed Statement of Partnership, reaffirming the unique bond between our two countries!

The Statement of Partnership outlines our interest in working together on issues of mutual interest such as climate change, human and economic development, and responding to an increasingly complex security environment, as well as reiterating New Zealand's commitment to supporting Samoa to deliver a successful CHOGM.

The meeting, which also included Minister for Pacific Peoples Hon Dr Shane Reti and Samoa Minister for Public Enterprises Leatinu'u Faumuinā Wayne So'oialo, was also a chance to share views on priorities for our two countries, including on Samoa's preparations to host CHOGM, the challenges and opportunities impacting the region, and our focused NZ-Samoa development cooperation.
