Police have seized hundreds of cartons of illegal cigarettes and vapes valued at over $70,000 in Peak Hill yesterday.
About 4:30pm yesterday (Wednesday 27 November 2024), officers attached to Central West Police District stopped a Renault Koleos on the Newell Highway, Peak Hill due to the manner of driving.
A search of the vehicle located 5.9kg of loose-leaf tobacco, 252 cartons of illegal cigarettes and 310 vapes with a street value of $74,000.
The tobacco, cigarettes and vapes were seized for forensic examination.
The 48-year-old male driver was charged with possess tobacco 5 kilograms or above, convey tobacco products know of intent defraud, recklessly deal with proceeds of crime more than $5000, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen or unlawfully obtained.
The driver was issued with a Court Attendance Notice to appear at Parkes Local Court on Monday 27 January 2025
