Green MSME II Initiative promotes energy transition in El Salvador's industrial sector

San Salvador, August 29, 2024.- The Regional Energy Congress (COREN 2024), supported by the Green MSME II Initiative of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the Government of Germany, through KfW, and the European Union, will focus on advancing the energy transition, boosting industrial competitiveness, and promoting sustainability.

The Congress, organized by the Asociación Salvadoreña de Industriales (ASI), addresses central topics on the regional electricity market, emphasizing the challenges to achieve carbon neutrality in the electricity sector; renewable energy, highlighting regional advances in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs); as well as energy management, highlighting the use of technology for the electricity sector.

The event takes place from August 28 to 30 and brings together more than 150 representatives from industry, academia, government, civil society, and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). It also features the participation of national and international experts who share their knowledge and experiences on the sector's current and future challenges, trends, and emerging technologies.

COREN has positioned itself as a platform for knowledge management and exchange in the country, promoting dialogue to encourage the productive sector to optimize the use of energy resources, strengthen technical capacities and understand the national and international energy market.

The Congress is sponsored by the Green MSME II Initiative, which seeks to protect the climate and the environment by creating and offering adequate, efficient, and sustainable financial products for the micro-, small-, and medium- size enterprise sector with investments in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and cleaner production.
