Georgia Commission on Family Violence Honors Orgs with Valued Partner Award at 30th Annual Conference

The Valued Partner Award recognizes organizations that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to advancing the mission of ending family violence in Georgia. Each of these honorees has played a crucial role in supporting the conference and, by extension, enhancing the efforts to address domestic violence across the state.

Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC)

Since 2015, the CJCC has been a steadfast ally, providing 2,646 conference scholarships to a diverse range of professionals, including domestic violence advocates, social workers, public safety officers, and forensic sexual assault nurse examiners. The CJCC's dedication has greatly expanded the conference's reach and impact, enabling vital training and resources for those on the front lines of combating family violence.

"As we celebrate the 30-year milestone of this exceptional conference, we express our gratitude for CJCC's enduring partnership," said Judge Paige Whitaker, Chair of the Georgia Commission on Family Violence. "Their support has been instrumental in the growth and success of this event. CJCC's commitment to advancing our shared mission of ending family violence in Georgia has been invaluable."

Department of Community Supervision (DCS)

Over the past three years, DCS has ensured that 50 domestic violence liaison officers can attend the annual conference. This support underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in public safety and domestic violence prevention and highlights the commitment to uniting professionals with a common goal.

"DCS has been an instrumental partner in advancing our shared mission," Whitaker continued. "Together, we will continue to make a significant impact on reducing family violence. We extend our deepest thanks to Commissioner Michael Nail and the employees of DCS for their dedication and unwavering support."

Judicial Council/Administrative Office of the Courts (JC/AOC)

The JC/AOC has been a dedicated and involved partner throughout the Commission's history. Through their support, the conference has been able to award judicial scholarships, which have been crucial in encouraging judges from across the state to prioritize domestic violence and sexual assault training.

"GCFV appreciates the JC/AOC's resolute support for the Commission's work, particularly the conference," said Whitaker. "AOC's longstanding role as a pivotal partner has significantly bolstered our efforts. We look forward to a future of continued collaboration and mutual support."

The Georgia Commission on Family Violence is honored to recognize these exemplary organizations' significant contributions. Their continued support has played an essential role in advancing the mission to reduce family violence and improve the lives of Georgia's citizens.

The Commission's 30th Annual Family Violence Conference was held in Athens from August 25 to 28, 2024. This year's theme is "Learning From the Past, Forging Ahead Together." The annual conference serves as a key platform for training, networking, and sharing best practices among professionals working in the field. Over 630 local and national stakeholders, including judges, prosecutors, law enforcement, advocates, survivors, faith leaders, counselors, and community members, attended the conference.
