The US National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for a majority of the Bay Area from morning on Tuesday, July 2, through evening on Saturday, July 6. The hottest temperatures are forecasted Tuesday and Wednesday with Santa Rosa expected to peak at 105 degrees. The NWS considers this a Moderate to Extreme heat risk event in our area. Based on the forecasted conditions, the City of Santa Rosa will open a cooling center at the Finley Community Center located at 2060 W. College Ave. on Tuesday, July 2, and Wednesday, July 3, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The cooling center at Finley Community Center will offer light snacks and beverages and free Wi-Fi. Limited space and accommodations will be available and community members should be aware of the following:
