TCDRS has made it easier for members to designate who can manage their account on their behalf.
TCDRS members can now designate representatives to help view and manage their TCDRS accounts by signing in at TCDRS.org or by calling TCDRS Member Services at 800-823-7782. There are two types of representatives a TCDRS member can manage online:
Inquiry Access
Power of Attorney
Naming a representative ensures that only the people the member authorizes can act on their behalf, and that helps keep their TCDRS account secure.
We've created a representative type called Inquiry Access. When a member gives their representative Inquiry Access, the representative can view the TCDRS account online or call Member Services for information. They can run benefit estimates, view personal information or see the list of account beneficiaries. However, that representative cannot take any action on the account, such as naming a beneficiary or applying for a benefit.
Via their online account, members can provide the name and contact information for their Power of Attorney representatives (also called agents) and upload their Power of Attorney documentation. Power of Attorney designations are not official until we receive the appropriate documentation. Members can replace or revoke Power of Attorney agreements online, as well.
Power of Attorney agents are able to sign in at TCDRS.org with their own credentials, then view and manage the member's account via the TCDRS website. What the agent can do online or over the phone depends on the powers granted by the member.
