Selections made for 2024-2025 Artist in Residence program

Joshua Tree National Park is pleased to announce the selections for the 2024-2025 Artist-­in­-Residence (AIR) Program. Six applicants have been invited to participate in the program's eighteenth year of hosting artists who volunteer their time and creativity to interpret the resources of Joshua Tree National Park through unique lenses.
The selectees are:
Bethany Johnson, Austin, TX; October 14-November 2 - multidisciplinary artist
Ainslie Murray, Sydney, Australia; November 3-24 - interdisciplinary artist
Emily Veldman, Los Angeles, CA December 1-22 - mixed media painting
Ken Fandell, Los Angeles, CA; January 27-February 17 - multidimensional artist
Connie Jin, Washington DC, March 1-29 - cartoonist and illustrator
Anna Leahy, Orange, CA, April 1-22 - poet
The jury comprised three local art professionals, one former AIR program participant and two park staff members who made their selections from a pool of eighty-seven applicants. Three alternates were also selected.

Artists will be provided with accommodations inside the park to work on a project proposed through the application process. During the residency, members of the community and park visitors will be invited to engage with the artist as they share their work and process during a free public program.
