Amata Congratulates 2024 Malofie Congressional Art Competition Winners

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amatais delighted to congratulate the winners of the Malofie Congressional Art Competition for this year, and say thank you to everyone involved.

This year's first-place winner is Talanoa Lagafuaina of Tafuna High School. His first-place art will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol! Congratulations also to second-place winner, Tavale Aumua of Leone High School; and third-place winner, Anarosa Tolai of Leone High School.

"I always enjoy seeing our islands' first-place art displayed in the U.S. Capitol, where Members of Congress and many thousands of people touring the Capitol look at the wall of artwork. Thank you to every student, along with the schools and teachers, for taking part, and doing such good projects. I'm proud of each one, and support art and other creative efforts for our schools. Congratulations!"

Congresswoman Amata and her local office work in partnership with the American Samoa Department of Education to select these standouts, and determine one to represent American Samoa in Washington. Each year, American Samoa's public and private high schools are invited to send entries for the competition.

"My hope is that this is a fun project for every student and that they can improve and learn from the experience, while exploring their talents," continued Amata. "Thank you always to the generous sponsors that make this opportunity possible."

Each participant receives a Congressional Certificate from Congresswoman Uifa'atali Amata, and various prizes from sponsors. Congresswoman Amata extends her warmest fa'afetai to the many businesses and individuals who donated and helped make this year's Congressional Art Competition special for the students.
