Utilizing Grain Bank for Livestock Feed

In today's world of farming and ranching, every dollar counts to the producer. They closely watch expenses, application costs, and feed costs, looking for ways to save or make the extra dollar. As the low man in the process of selling commodities, the farmer usually pays retail price but gets paid wholesale price. At MKC, our goal is to help and support the producer.

Utilizing grain in a feed setting for livestock exponentiates its worth. It is a practice that we need to be able to start doing more of in today's markets. The grain we grow and harvest can be increased in value when you convert it to pounds of meat/livestock. If we were to take the corn and use it in feed rations, the needle of profitability would move in favor of the producer.

With the option of having feed mills within our footprint in MKC, you can utilize your grain to produce higher-valued products. You, as a producer, can transfer the bushels needed to manufacture your feed at a feed mill location. You will have a storage rate, the same as with Producer Ag, of $.0675/Bu/month. There is a handling charge for the amount moved of $.22/bushel, along with a freight charge if the grain is moved from a location that doesn't have a mill. Additionally, a freight charge is calculated based on the distance from the delivery location of the grain to the feed mill used for processing.

With different options in grain marketing and now adding the choice of utilizing your feed for livestock, we are working to make our producers as successful as possible. Reach out to your local sales team member about how to utilize your grain without having to move it yourself.
