U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm Leads Presidential Delegation to The Dominican Republic Presidential Inauguration

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm led the United States Presidential Delegation to the Dominican Republic from August 15-16 for the inauguration of President Luis Abinader for his second term in office.

Secretary Granholm was joined by Ms. Patricia Aguilera, Chargé d'Affaires at the U.S. Embassy Santo Domingo; Tom Perez, Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to the President and Director of the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs; Alejandra Castillo, Assistant Secretary for Economic Development at the Department of Commerce; Chris Dodd, Special Presidential Advisor for the Americas at the Department of State; and Daniel P. Erikson, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs at the National Security Council.

While in the Dominican Republic, Secretary Granholm and the U.S. delegation met with President Abinader and expressed President Joe Biden's commitment to continuing to strengthen our countries' longstanding relationship and our shared goals of a more democratic, prosperous, and secure Western Hemisphere.

During her visit, the Secretary communicated the United States' commitment to supporting the Dominican Republic's inclusive economic growth along with the advancement of its clean energy transition and climate resilience, including through the U.S.-Caribbean Partnership to Address the Climate Crisis 2030 (PACC 2030).
