PROVIDENCE, R.I. (October 29, 2024) - Eight Rhode Island Energy workplace sites earned gold-level certification from the Electric Vehicle Adoption Leadership (EVAL) program offered through Forth, a nonprofit organization tasked with improving access to clean transportation.
A nationally recognized initiative recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy, the EVAL program supports, certifies and celebrates employers and businesses that champion sustainable transportation.
To achieve one of four certification levels - bronze, silver, gold and platinum - employers are evaluated based on how well they assess the e-mobility needs of their employees, plan and evaluate sites for potential electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and showcase sustainability leadership in the workplace.
Rhode Island Energy was recognized with the honor by making it easier for employees to transition to cleaner transportation options by offering EV charging at eight of its offices - Middletown, Cumberland, Chopmist, Dexter, Lincoln, Westerly, Melrose, and North Kingstown. The company also has a fleet of 27 electric vehicles and trucks with an additional 54 being prepped for service or on order.
"To achieve gold level certification with the EVAL program recognizes Rhode Island Energy's dedication to advancing clean transportation options for our employees - many of whom are already taking advantage of these chargers," said Greg Cornett, president of Rhode Island Energy. "It is our goal as an organization to continue supporting our employees and the community in choosing cleaner transportation solutions and contributing to a healthier environment and more sustainable future."
