Patrick J.F. McKay, executive producer and co-showrunner of Amazon Studios' award-winning original series, "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is coming to Salve October 7 for a special event.

Salve students, faculty and staff will be treated to a screening of the season 2 finale of the show followed by a Q&A with McKay moderated by Dr. D. Matthew Ramsey, professor in the Department of English, Communications and Media.

The screening and Q&A will be held on Monday, October 7, in the DiStefano Lecture Hall in the Antone Academic Center. Pizza will be served in the lobby at 5:30 p.m. with the screening scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. Space is limited. To register for the event, go here.

They will explore the second season of the show, which McKay notes is "grounded, grittier, more dramatic and very emotional," and McKay will share insights and experiences from his career.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" season 2 began streaming August 29, 2024. The season finale will stream October 3.

McKay, a native of Rhode Island and Virginia, has been writing for film and television for nearly 15 years. In that time, he and his long-term co-writer J.D. Payne have collaborated on more than 20 screenplays, including work on "Star Trek Beyond" for producer J.J. Abrams, "Jungle Cruise" for Walt Disney Studios and their original script "Escape."

The co-writers' many feature and television scripts include projects for Sony, Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox, Legendary and Paramount Pictures. Since 2018, they have served as executive producers and co-showrunners for Amazon Studio's original series, "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," for which they have written or co- written multiple episodes.

McKay is a graduate of Stonehill College, where he studied theater arts, and American University, where he earned an MFA in creative writing. He resides with his family outside of London, UK, and maintains a summer home in Rhode Island. He is the son of Salve Trustee Bernard F. McKay and Mary McKay.
