The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is advising the public of road closures in Cambridge on Saturday, November 23, 2024, to enhance safety during the Harvard/Yale football game, which is expected to draw large crowds to the area and begin at noon.
Memorial Drive Closure:
Memorial Drive will be closed during the day to accommodate increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic related to the game. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes as congestion is expected.
In addition to Memorial Drive, JFK Street and surrounding streets will be closed following the game to manage crowd movement as spectators make their way up JFK Street from the stadium. This closure will restrict motor vehicle access from Memorial Drive to Massachusetts Avenue. Traffic will be redirected away from JFK Street and surrounding areas. The duration of these closures will depend on the timing of the game's conclusion, but they are expected to last until the crowd disperses.
Drivers and pedestrians are encouraged to plan accordingly and follow detour signs.
As a reminder, the MBTA Red Line is partially closed for track work on Saturday, November 23. The MBTA will run trains from Alewife to Harvard, free shuttle buses from Harvard to Broadway, and trains from Broadway to Braintree and Ashmont. In downtown Boston, shuttles will stop close to Downtown Crossing, at Haymarket, and at State instead of at Park Street. For more information, visit https://mbta.com/redline.
