Merced County

Rest Area, Lane & Ramp Closures
Interstate 5 And State Routes 33, 99 & 140

Merced County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform various closures on Interstate 5 (I-5) and State Route 33 (SR-33), SR-99 and SR-140 for maintenance and construction operations. Work is scheduled to occur as follows:

Interstate 5

• • Full closure of the John C. Erreca Rest Areas on northbound and southbound I-5 beginning Monday, April 4, 2022, through May 31, 2025.
• • ALTERNATE LOCATIONS: Motorists are advised to use the Coalinga-Avenal Rest Area (Fresno/Kings County line).

State Route 33

• One-way traffic control from Marquerite Street to Camellia Avenue for utility work on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

State Route 99

• One-way traffic control on Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 20, through Friday, October 25, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 20, through Friday, October 25, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Le Grand Road Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 20, through Friday, October 25, 2024, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at Childs Avenue Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 20, through Friday, October 25, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• One-way traffic control on Childs Avenue Over-Crossing for bridge work beginning Sunday, October 20, through Friday, October 25, 2024, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full on-ramp closure on southbound SR-99 at 16th Street Under-Crossing for crack and seal operations beginning Monday, October 21, through Tuesday, October 22, 2024, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full off-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at R Street Under-Crossing for crack and seal operations beginning Sunday, October 20, through Monday, October 21, 2024, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
• Full on-ramp closure on northbound SR-99 at SR-140/59 (V Street) for crack and seal operations beginning Sunday, October 20, through Monday, October 21, 2024, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

State Route 140

• Long-term one-way traffic control at the Los Banos Creek for bridge work beginning Monday, August 5, at 6:00 a.m. through Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 6:00 a.m.
• Long-term full closure from 5th Street to Fifth Avenue in Gustine for construction work beginning Monday, April 22, at 6:00 a.m. through Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 6:00 a.m.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. This work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
