Acting Director-General of Department of International Economic Affairs attends Asia Cooperation Dialogue Ministerial Meeting on the sidelines of the UNGA79 in New York

On 26 September 2024, Miss Rujikorn Saengchantr, Acting Director-General of Department of International Economic Affairs, was assigned by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand to attend the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA79).

The meeting discussed preparation for the upcoming 3rd ACD Summit, set to take place during 2 - 3 October 2024, in Doha, Qatar. The meeting also considered and endorsed the Doha Declaration titled "Sports Diplomacy", which will serve as the outcome document of the said Summit, before submitting it to ACD leaders for adoption at the Summit in Doha. At the meeting, Thailand confirmed the Prime Minister's participation in the Summit in Doha and expressed its commitment to assuming the Chairmanship of the ACD in 2025. Thailand will place great importance on the issue of financing for development, aligning with discussions at the United Nations.

The ACD, inaugurated in 2002 by Thailand, is a pan-Asia cooperation and policy dialogue forum aimed at promoting understanding, mutual trust, and mutual interest among Asian countries, as well as finding common solutions to global challenges. The ACD currently consists of 35 Member States and represents more than 50 percent of world population.
