Synergies in Market Reach and Tech Lead to Growth with Timber Customer

RoyOMartin recently cut the ribbon on its expanded oriented strand board (OSB) plant in Corrigan, Texas, enabling the company to better meet the demand for high-quality, sustainable wood products across the region. The celebration also marks another chapter in its strategic partnership with Union Pacific Railroad.

"Union Pacific works with us on many fronts, helping us reach key markets and providing reliable service and great communication," said John Smith, director-Supply Chain at RoyOMartin. "When demand took off and we had to decide whether to build a new facility or expand our footprint in Corrigan, it was an easy decision."

Union Pacific serves three RoyOMartin facilities, a leading manufacturer of OSB, plywood, and solid wood products with locations in Oakdale and Chopin, Louisiana, and Corrigan, Texas. The OSB plant expansion in Texas includes a new warehouse and spur track that connects to Union Pacific's main line. OSB is an engineered wood product that uses a combination of wood strands, adhesives and heat to create strong panels commonly used in commercial and residential construction.

"This expansion represents growth for both companies as we take advantage of several great synergies," said Kenny Rocker, executive vice president-Marketing and Sales, Union Pacific. "We provide optionality and access to many of RoyOMartin's key markets, and we're proud of all the work we've done with Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to make our teams more integrated."

RoyOMartin uses Union Pacific's APIs to access and interact with relevant railroad data within their own business platforms, eliminating manual processes.

"These tools give us time back, allowing us to focus on what we're good at - serving our customers," Smith said.
