TRAFFIC FATALITY – ANAHEIM STREET AND CHERRY AVENUE

Collision investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on July 31, 2024 which resulted in the death of a male adult motorcyclist.

At approximately 11:46 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of Anaheim Street and Cherry Avenue regarding a single vehicle collision.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a motorcycle had collided into the front of a business located on the southwest corner of the intersection. Long Beach Fire Department personnel were already on scene and determined the motorcyclist deceased.

The preliminary investigation indicates the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Cherry Avenue and crossed through the intersection of Anaheim Street. The motorcycle drove over the curb on the southwest corner of the intersection and collided with a light pole and a business.

No other vehicles were involved.

At this time, speed is being investigated as a factor in the collision.

The Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner will identify the decedent and notify the next of kin.
