Denver - Friday, October 18, 2024 - Today, the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office announced their filing of a Menacing charge against Denver Police Sergeant Jason Brake. Please see the press release below from the District Attorney's Office for more information.

Sergeant Brake joined DPD in 1990 and was most recently assigned to the DPD Operations Support Section. Sgt. Brake was placed on paid administrative leave on October 3, 2024, when the investigation into this incident began. Due to the felony charge, he is now in a non-paid administrative leave.

The Denver Police Department's administrative review will begin once the criminal case is adjudicated, which includes the Denver Department of Safety and the Office of the Independent Monitor, a civilian oversight agency. Since the criminal investigation is being conducted by the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office, DPD is unable to comment further on the case.
