Raleigh’s Vision Zero: Safer Streets in Progress

The City of Raleigh is working hard to make our streets safer with its Vision Zero program. This plan aims to eliminate serious injuries and deaths on our roads while promoting fair and healthy ways for everyone to get around. Here's what we've achieved so far:

• $1 Million Grant Secured: Raleigh received a $1 million Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant to develop a Vision Zero Comprehensive Safety Action Plan, with completion targeted for Fall 2025.
• Safety Upgrades at Schools: Improvements in flatwork, signage, and pavement markings were completed at 10 schools across the city, including West Millbrook Magnet High School, Broughton Magnet High School, and Lacy Elementary.
• $2.43 Million for Safety Projects: Nine safety projects got funded through partnerships with NCDOT.
• Intersection Safety: We identified intersections with high crash rates and are upgrading signals to make them safer.
• Citywide Signage Updates: School zones and other important pedestrian areas now have updated signs to improve safety.
