Dr. David Lalman, Oklahoma State University Extension beef cattle specialist, is set to receive the 2024 Southern Region Excellence in Extension individual award in November for impactful integrated beef Extension programs.
This recognition is a partnership between the United States Department of Agriculture, National Institute of Food and Agriculture and the Cooperative Extension System's Extension Committee on Organization and Policy.
"I enjoy my Extension appointment," Lalman said. "It is rewarding to know that you can help people with real-world problems in an industry you are passionate about."
Lalman's Extension experience focuses on cow-calf and stocker cattle production with an emphasis on grazing and nutrition.
"Lalman has long been a state, regional and national leader in programming to help producers understand the nutritional needs of their cattle and how to better manage them for sustainable operations," said Dr. Damona Doye, associate vice president of OSU Extension. "His impact on the beef industry through presentations, publications and tools developed has been huge.
"His leadership and contributions to the OSU Beef Cattle Manual and the Master Cattleman educational program have been very well-received not only in our state but beyond."
