Pasadena to Pay Tribute to Those Who Have Served at Veterans Day Event

[Link] PASADENA, Calif.- The City of Pasadena's annual Veterans Day Celebration will take place on Monday, November 11, from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Pasadena City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave. Hosted by the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Department and the Pasadena Veterans Committee, this is a morning to remember and honor the service and sacrifice of our military Veterans.

This year is especially poignant because our own 2D Battalion 23D Marine Corps Regiment, adopted by the City of Pasadena on November 25, 2013, has been deployed for a year-long term of duty. We will pay tribute to these local heroes with a special Yellow Ribbon Ceremony, with music by the Pasadena Scottish Pipes and Drums.

The event will feature special guest speaker Colonel Juan M. Mora, Chief of Staff of the decorated and historic 40th Infantry Division, known as the "Sunburst Division". We are also honored to have invited remarks from Army Veteran James Zenner, Director of Los Angeles County Military and Veteran Affairs. At 11:11 a.m., the spectacular Condor Squadron will fly over City Hall.

In addition to the program, there will be activities and exhibits of interest for both adults and children, including free hot dogs served by Pasadena Fire Fighters Local 809. The California State Guard, Military Museum, and Martin Severance Chapter, NSDAR, will have booths featuring historic artifacts and local Veteran stories. The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps and Veteran and Military Affairs will have information booths, and the Pasadena Police Department will have a recruitment booth.

Please join us for this stirring event devoted to expressing our gratitude to those who have served our country so nobly and well and to our newly deployed Marine Corps Regiment.

This event is supported by the Office of LA County Supervisor Barger, The Rose Bowl Stadium and Pasadena Management Association.
