Department Reveals Positive Results to City Council

The Titusville Police Department presented its annual department spotlight video to City Council members highlighting the traffic unit's impressive statistical improvements by way of a six-minute production featuring the agency and unit-focused commitment to safety.

Our traffic unit recently doubled in size as a direct response to increased roadway traffic due to the city's population and business growth, tourism and visitor traffic, and increased launch viewing opportunities.

In a side-by-side analysis of the years 2023 to 2024 from January through May, five safety metrics were compared and the results were overwhelmingly positive reflecting: no increase in traffic accidents, traffic crashes with injuries decreased by 16%, Driving Under the Influence arrests increased by 100%, traffic stops rose 119% and traffic-related deaths were down by 50% since the year 2021.

"The traffic unit's success can be attributed to our dedication to enforcing traffic laws, educating motorists via traffic stops, providing verbal or written warnings, along with, issuing citations to non-compliant motorists", said Traffic Lieutenant Chris DeLoach. "We remain vigilant and highly visible citywide as a proactive initiative resulting in the safest roadways possible", added DeLoach.
