Bridge Preservation Project Continues on I-80 EB in Union and Northumberland Counties for Bridge Project

09/06/2024

Montoursville, PA - Motorists are advised that a bridge preservation project will continue on bridges carrying Interstate 80 eastbound over the West Branch Susquehanna River in Union and Northumberland Counties.

Beginning Monday, September 9, 2024, the contractor will be performing work to shift eastbound traffic to begin a new phase of the project. This work includes eradicating pavement markings, applying new pavement markings, and shifting channelizing devices.

Motorists can expect alternating lane restrictions between the hours of 2:00 AM and 9:00 AM until the new traffic pattern is fully in place.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, and expect possible delays in travel.

RAM Services of Michigan is the prime contractor for this $ 4.3 million bridge preservation project. Work on this project includes patching the deck, waterproofing the barriers, preserving the deck with an epoxy overlay, and paving the bridge approaches. Additional work on this project includes preservation of the bridges that carry roads over the West Branch Susquehanna River, Interstate 80 eastbound and westbound in Northumberland County and Route 45 (Lewisburg River Bridge), and Route 642 (Milton River Bridge) in Northumberland and Union counties.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following local accounts on X.
