New municipal well drilling in Sunderland

The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents and businesses in Sunderland of upcoming construction of a new drilled well to replace the existing Municipal Well 3.

When: Tuesday, July 2 until Friday, September 27.

Where: 32 Jane Street, Sunderland in the Township of Brock.

Why: Residents and businesses in the vicinity of the well drilling site may experience increased noise levels due to the construction. Drinking water quality and supply is not anticipated to be impacted during this time. Residents are reminded to follow the mandatory odd-even day lawn watering in effect from May through September under the Regional Water Supply By-law #89-2003. If you wish to water your lawn, you may do so only on odd calendar days if your house number is an odd number, or even calendar days if you house is an even number. Water restrictions are important to maintain adequate water supply for emergencies, including fire protection.

Initial drilling activities will be carried out the week of July 2 and expected to be completed by July 5. Additional drilling and connection works will resume in mid August and are expected to be completed by the end of September 2024.

The Region regrets any inconvenience this may cause and thanks customers for their co-operation. This construction will be conducted in accordance with the Brock Township Noise By-Law number 3118-2022.
