AMES, Iowa - The Ames City Auditorium has received a 2024 Arts Project Grant award for $5,380 from the Iowa Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts to expand its annual concert series. For 2024 and 2025, the series has been expanded from 11 concerts to 12 and opening acts have been added to most of the remaining concerts. The grant funding will also be utilized to create video content for the artists performing and for the Auditorium social media pages in an effort to reach a broader audience.
This year's "Fifth and Clark Fridays" series began in September and will continue into the spring. The grant funding will be used to enhance the remaining concerts from November through April.
"Receiving this grant helps the Ames City Auditorium bolster its line-up of live music and improves the live music options for area residents," said Craig Kaufman, Ames Auditorium, Bandshell, and Community Manager. "We appreciate the focus on entertainment, arts, and music, and our goal is to offer quality, affordable shows with wide appeal."
The remaining fall concerts will feature The Bird Hunters and Danny Grause on Nov. 15, and The Finesse on Nov. 22. The spring lineup will be announced in early December. Doors for all concerts will be at 6:30 p.m., and the shows begin at 7 p.m. Tickets for these shows are $5, and all students can get 2-for-1 admission by showing their student ID.
