Meeting with the Vice President of the International Committee of the Red Cross

Today, Foreign Minister Diana Mondino met with the Vice President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Gilles Carbonnier, in order to take concrete steps towards the resumption and completion of negotiations for the Third Humanitarian Project Plan aimed at searching for and identifying the fallen Argentine soldiers buried on the Malvinas Islands.

In addition to highlighting the significant progress made through the First and Second Humanitarian Project Plans, the meeting provided a special opportunity to reiterate to the ICRC Argentina's commitment to relying on its invaluable mediation in this next phase. As the Foreign Minister stated: "It is very important to be able to offer support to the families by completing the humanitarian project. The Red Cross is neutral, independent, highly professional, and willing to collaborate so that Argentina may reach the end of this matter."

The Humanitarian Project Plan represents a milestone and serves as an exceptional example to the world of the value of International Humanitarian Law and the importance of having a neutral, impartial, and independent actor like the International Committee of the Red Cross to facilitate and carry out these operations.

Mr. Carbonnier was accompanied by the Head of the ICRC Regional Delegation for Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay, Alexandre Formisano, and by the Representative of the Regional Delegation for Argentina, Gabriel Valladares.
