Updated: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 1711 Caroline Street

August 9, 2024- Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a woman at 1711 Caroline Street about 11:10 p.m. on August 2.

The suspect, Tristian Sanders, 26, is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court. He was arrested in Luling, Louisiana, and booked into the St. Charles Parish Jail.

He is accused in the death of Vanity Williams, 34.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants. A. Dudley, C. Duncan and Detectives J. Jorsch, D. Lunceford and K. Heaverlo reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the apartment complex at the above address and found an unresponsive female with gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the female, later identified as Ms. Williams, deceased.

Further investigation and evidence identified Sanders as the suspect in this case. Investigators learned he fled to the greater New Orleans area and stayed at various locations.

Detectives consulted the Harris County District Attorney's Office and Sanders was charged for his role in the shooting today (Aug. 9).

HPD homicide investigators and members of the Louisiana State Police, New Orleans Police Department, St. Charles Parish Sheriff's Office, and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office searched for Sanders at multiple locations. He was located in Luling and taken into custody.

Sanders is awaiting extradition back to Harris County.
