HONOLULU, July 25, 2024 - Hawaiian Electric crews will upgrade utility equipment along Halawa Valley Street in Aiea on Monday, July 29, and Tuesday, July 30, partially closing the mauka-bound lane between Iwaiwa Street and Waiua Place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Traffic will be contraflowed during the work hours on both days.
The project to enhance system reliability will involve installation of lightweight, self-supporting fiber optic cables and removal of the older cables.
Arrow boards, safety signs and traffic cones will mark the work zone and flagmen will help direct motorists to the contraflow lane. Motorists are encouraged to drive with caution when approaching and passing the crews at work and expect traffic delays.
