Rep. Kim Schofield to Join Pastor Jessie Simms, Mega Faith Center and College Park Leaders for “Gas on God” Community Event

ATLANTA - State Representative Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta) will join Pastor Jessie Simms of the Mega Faith Center, as well as College Park leaders, to participate in the in the upcoming "Gas on God" event on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 1 - 4 p.m. at a Chevron gas station in College Park, Georgia.

The "Gas on God" event, created by Pastor Jessie Simms, in partnership with College Park Mayor Bianca Motley Broom and Councilwoman Tracie Arnold, aims to provide support to local residents before Thanksgiving.

As part of this community initiative, "Gas on God" will provide free gas to individuals in need, with each vehicle receiving up to $50 worth. The event is designed to support local residents facing financial challenges as the holiday season approaches.

"We know that many people in our community face difficult financial situations, especially as we approach the holidays," said Rep. Schofield. "This event is a heartfelt meaningful way to give back and make a real difference. By providing free gas, we hope to ease some of the burden for our neighbors and help them enjoy a brighter, more hopeful Thanksgiving. This event is a reflection of the values of generosity, service and unity that are integral to the spirit of Thanksgiving."

This initiative is part of Rep. Schofield's ongoing commitment to collaborating with College Park Mayor Bianca Motley Broom and Councilmember Tracie Arnold to support residents in College Park and strengthen the community.

"We are excited to partner with faith, elected leaders, community leaders and local organizations to make this event a success," Rep. Schofield continued. "This is just one way we can come together to lift up our neighbors and remind them that they are not alone."

The "Gas on God" event is open to all, with a focus on providing support to individuals who could benefit most. Organizers encourage early arrival as supplies will be limited.
