Statement regarding Governor Shapiro’s Announcement on Investments in Downtown Pittsburgh Revitalization Efforts

"Throughout the past several months, we have taken immediate action to stabilize downtown through programmatic investments in health and public safety, identify sustainable solutions to maintain those investments and reposition our real estate market for a new mix of residential and commercial uses. When we launched the initial public realm vision in June, we knew there was so much more that needed to be done - and coming back today with a more robust strategy and vision for the future is a testament to our drive to move downtown forward.

Together, we are tackling housing needs, clean and safe efforts, economic development, and reimagining civic spaces - all with the goal of creating a downtown neighborhood for all. We must seek to repurpose real estate and rethink the built environment to enable entrepreneurs, diverse start-ups, and growing businesses to locate and flourish in downtown Pittsburgh.
