Texas Lutheran University’s Dr. Debbie Cottrell Appointed to NCAA Division III Presidents Council

Texas Lutheran University President Dr. Debbie Cottrell has been appointed to the NCAA Division III Presidents Council. The National Collegiate Athletic Association exists to regulate student athletics among its member schools, and the Presidents Council is the highest governing body in Division III. The council serves to implement policies adopted by the Association's Board of Governors and establishes and directs general policies of the division, among other things.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to serve on this important leadership group," says Cottrell. "The NCAA and our Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference help ensure that athletics on our campus provide the strongest possible experience for our students. I look forward to representing the Conference and furthering the goals and philosophies of Division III athletics."

Division III, the largest of the three NCAA divisions, consists of athletics programs at colleges and universities which do not offer athletic scholarships to their student-athletes. Cottrell has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the Presidents Council, ending at the conclusion of 2027's NCAA Convention.
