Michelle de la Uz Appointed to New York Fed’s Community Advisory Group

NEW YORK-The Federal Reserve Bank of New York today announced the appointment of Michelle de la Uz to the New York Fed's Community Advisory Group, effective immediately.

The Community Advisory Group is comprised of leaders of nonprofits, community organizations, foundations, and anchor institutions. Its primary goal is to provide the New York Fed, including President John C. Williams, with a real-time view of the economic issues faced by a diverse set of communities and individuals across the Second District.

De la Uz's appointment comes in advance of the Community Advisory Group's next meeting on October 8, 2024.

Since 2004, de la Uz has been the executive director of the Fifth Avenue Committee, a nonprofit community development corporation that develops affordable housing, advocates for tenants, and provides workforce bridge and other services, serving more than 6,000 low- and moderate-income New Yorkers annually. De la Uz previously served as program director for the Center for Urban Community Services in Washington Heights and Harlem, where she oversaw social services in supportive housing for 400 low-income tenants with special needs. From 1995 to 1999, de la Uz served as director of constituent services for Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez of New York and directed her South Brooklyn district office. De la Uz also serves on the board of directors of the Local Initiative Support Corporation, co-chairs the New York Housing Conference, and served as an appointed member of New York City's Planning Commission from 2012 to 2021.

De la Uz is an alumna of Connecticut College. She has a master's degree in social work from Columbia University and completed a nonprofit leadership certificate from Harvard University's Kennedy School Executive Education program.
